There is no doubt that social media is here to stay and that it poses a variety of serious problems for our society.
It appears that there is no easy solution. But there is one thing that might help.
Stop the widely used practice of reposting the posts and views of others. There is no issue with people posting their own thoughts and opinions. But reposting is often used by cowards who are afraid to take responsibility by saying “well, I didn’t really post it, I just repeated it” after a post is challenged.
This results in disinformation, half-truths, exaggeration and outright lies getting literally millions of views.
Why? Taxpayers are restoring an elk herd only to have hunters kill them off.
I want to watch Wisconsin sports. I shouldn’t have to get Apple TV or Peacock to be able to do that.
